Distinctly Himalayan Imports is a Tibetan owned and run business based in the US, and partnering with socially conscious artisans and manufacturers throughout the Himalaya. Having both retail and wholesale experience in Europe and the US for more than a decade, our goal is to meld style and design, with quality and pricing.

Raised in Nepal and India, we have more than just an in-depth knowledge of local cultures and businesses. It is our home, and the people we work with are friends and family. Our goal in all cases is to provide a sufficient amount of work for them to grow and employ more people, while maintaining the highest standards of style and quality for our clients. From sourcing to pricing policy, we aim to find this middle road where all parties benefit, from individual artisan to final consumer.

“Imagination cures the chaos in the heart.” It is a Tibetan proverb our mothers often repeated, perhaps in response to unvoiced questions about our refugee existence. For us, as for our parents, our homeland of Tibet now exists only in the imagination, but our heritage and our enduring culture will always provide inspiration for us.
